The Veterans Day Parade Committee is searching for new committee members, and we need responsible doers not just “pretty faces.”
Please contact Gary Randel at Chairman@boiseveteransdayparade.org if you are interested in becoming a parade committee member.
Here is my “pitch.”
Is an annual Veterans Day Parade an event that should be sustained in Boise and the Treasure Valley? If you believe that the parade should continue will you help ensure that it does?
At the present time there are only seven committee members and one of them will step-down after the 2013 parade is complete. At best, the committee is only one deep in each of its essential functional areas.
Because we are only one deep in all positions, it is obvious that if any one of us should suddenly and/or unexpectedly leave the committee for any reason, the committee’s capability to continue its work properly would become problematic.
The committee needs more members. At the minimum, we need a second person in each current position, and we need one or more people who are interested in the chairman position. In addition to the chair, current positions are:
·Veterans Organizations Coordinator
·School and Youth Group Coordinator
·Parade Volunteer Coordinator
·Media/Public Affairs Officer/Liaison
Other desirable billets are:
·Fundraising Committee Chairman/women
·Armed Forces Active Component, Reserve Component, and Idaho National Guard Organizations/Units Coordinator
·Other Organizations Coordinator (NOTE: Many parade participating organizations are other than Veterans Service, School and Youth Groups, and serving military organizations/units.)
If you believe that the parade is an event that we should continue, then I ask you to consider becoming a committee member. Committee members do not have to be veterans, but it is important to have veterans on the committee, and it is especially important to have committee members who have planning and organizational experience and who are self-motivated people
We require committee members who are capable and willing to take charge of a functional area and achieve the results that make the parade successful. Place holders are not desired.
We are approximately five weeks away from this year’s parade; i.e. Saturday November 9th. This is the ideal time for a potential committee member to visit us, see what we are doing, and then decide if you would like to become a committee member.
I look forward to receiving your email,
Parade Committee Chairman
